Portugal-The Portuguese mold manufacturing industry has been growing and consolidating its eighth market position in the world over the past few years. One of the secrets of the industry's success is its willingness to cooperate, revealed during a visit to this year's mold event.

Portugal is one of the world's leading mold manufacturers, especially in the field of plastic injection molds. It ranks 8th in the world and 3rd in Europe. A staggering 85% of total production is exported, and all major European car manufacturers rely on molds made in Portugal. What makes this country's mold manufacturing industry so successful? The answer may be beyond some people's expectations! In addition to the innovative spirit of many SMEs, they are not only willing to face competition, but also willing to cooperate. The exchange of common experiences and the search for strategies to maintain the European mold manufacturing industry are also among the best in recent mold events, the Portuguese National Mold Industry Association and Centimfe, a non-profit public utility organization.

During the mold event, the open day was also held from November 23rd to 25th. Within the scope of the CIP_2022 project, the project aims to promote the "Portuguese Engineering and Moulding" co-brand internationally, and organized visits to 16 cluster companies located in Oliveira de Azeméis and Marinha Grande, including ETMM. International and local reporters-present.

At the same time, the 2021 mold event will be held in Mariana Grande, which is the center of the country's mold manufacturing industry. Participants of the event have the opportunity to meet stakeholders, discover new business opportunities and promote innovative projects. Lectures, discussions, seminars and lectures addressed the challenges faced by the Portuguese and European mold manufacturing industries. Renowned national and international speakers contributed to the discussions held at the Marinha Grande Corporate Center. More than 1,200 attendees listened to 68 speakers' introductions. The five-day event ended with the "Portuguese Mould 2021" international conference, which discussed issues such as "the company's positioning in the global economy", "additive manufacturing" and market trends in the industry.

In the global mold manufacturing industry, Portuguese manufacturers are still a force that cannot be ignored. High-tech processing equipment, customer-oriented development department and experienced workforce are hallmarks of the country's industry. In view of the competition from China, it is better for Europe to adopt the example of Portuguese strategic cooperation. ETMM will soon publish an interesting overview article on this topic, which contains many insights, further developments and innovations.
