The scholarship recipients selected from 33 outstanding applicants are:

For Grobman, the award will reduce the economic losses that usually accompany professional training. "I am very interested in specializing in equine surgery through internship and residency programs, which inherently provide very little cost incentives," she said. "The Coyote Rock Ranch Scholarship will provide me with stable financial support, allowing me to dedicate myself to my patients, customers and the future of equine medicine. The financial burden of veterinary schools and professional training will be greatly reduced."

Logue intends to use the financial flexibility of her scholarship to complete an internship after graduation, and then pursue a large animal medicine residency program. "This award allows me to truly follow my passion for further training in equine medicine and greatly limits financial pressure," said Logger. "Having that kind of freedom is indeed a life-changing gift."

The award brings Robbins closer to her goal of practicing ownership in her hometown of South Dakota, helping to meet the demand for horse care in rural areas of the state. "This scholarship allows me to engage in a horse internship without the financial pressure of paying a loan," she said. "This also opened the door for me, allowing me to invest in my hometown to start my own equestrian training, so that I can focus my career entirely on horses."

According to Shirley, the award strengthens her equestrian ambitions by accelerating the time frame within which she can repay student loans. "Now, I can be more certain that pursuing my career ambitions will not cause me to be swallowed up by my student loan debt in the next few years," she said. "I will have the financial security to start my own business faster and achieve goals in the industry earlier. These goals will be based on medicine rather than its financial impact on me."

Penelope Knight created the Coyote Rock Ranch Veterinary Scholarship in 2015. Since receiving the first scholarship six years ago, 20 AAEP student members have benefited from her altruism. Announced along with the awards are the commitments of four scholarships of US$75,000 in 2022, which brings the cumulative financial commitment of Mrs. Knight and Coyote Rock Ranch to more than US$1.8 million.

"At Coyote Rock Ranch, high-quality equine veterinary medicine is at the core of our plan. In helping future veterinarians succeed, we have improved the entire horse industry and ultimately improved the welfare of horses," Knight said. "My overall goal is to support education, research and progress in horse care, and I am very happy to provide these scholarship opportunities for our next generation of equine veterinarians."
