Use oregano essential oil to reduce antimicrobial resistance-All About Feed

According to research conducted by the University of Reading, the addition of oregano essential oil to calf diets can significantly reduce the level of E. coli that is resistant to the fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotics.

University researchers Dr. Partha Ray and Dr. Caroline Rymer conducted an experiment to determine the effect of supplementing Anpario’s Orego-Stim Liquid (a source of 100% natural oregano essential oil) in waste milk fed to dairy cows on the amount of antibiotics. However, in calves fed waste milk supplemented with Orego-Stim Liquid before the 10th day, this was significantly reduced to 12.6% of the total number of E. coli resistant to cefquinol.
